Finally made the plunge..........ordered my F70 today! Went ahead & got the DD coil too, cant wait til it gets here! It is a Bday gift from my girlfriend, THANK YOU DEE!!! (Lizard Queen) Ive had my Quantum about 4 years now, been a damn good machine to me but it has started acting weird of late. As soon as the Fisher shows up I'll send the QXT in to whites for service then it becomes my "backup" machine. Sure hope Ive made the right decision on the F70 but reading this forum it sounds like most everybody is quite happy with theirs..........I'll let y'all know how I like mine! :icon_thumleft:

I know that excitement! i just got my f70 last week. i have been out about 4 or 5 time and im enjoying it, but im having a hard every once and a while in trashy areas. but to be fair ive never had an md that wasnt a 'turn on and go' so it might take a little to get a hang of but i have a feeling it will be extension of my body soon! the pin point is great, the ground grab can be tricky. but let me know what your thoughts are once it comes, if you have any time in the house!

I'm surprised that you find the ground grab "tricky". Its really very simple. Turn on the detector. Press the Ground Grab button and while holding the button pump the coil straight up and straight down a few times. A number will appear on the display when the machine is ground balanced. The only time a problem arises is when there is metal under the coil. If so switch to program 2 which is the default all metal mode and find a quiet spot where there is no metal and GB there.

Fastgrab tricky? Not in the least. The only "trick" is to make sure the spot is clear of metal. That's the case for every detector (except perhaps for those that allegedly ground balance automatically . . . or not. How would you know if it was or was just a single preset? :D ).

If you have manually ground balanced a detector carefully you can appreciate that the Fastgrab is saving you much time and aggrivation. It even tells you if you should move and try another spot with the "Can't GB" message. If all else fails, reset and go with the factory default "70" setting. Takes just 10 seconds to do a factory reset of all modes & menus.

I just watched a couple videos on Youtube showing how to set an F70 up. Im getting quite giddy. :D Mine might get here today but I woke up to 4-5 inches of snow & 30mph gusts. If it shows I think Im going out anyway. :icon_thumleft:

Just got here today!~ 4-5-10~
Took it outside here at work, real trashy area.........pulled a couple keys out between the tabs & foil at 6 inches! I watched the videos so many times that Im very confident that I will master this thing! So light weight & I love the 2 speeds SL & DE, that SLow speed will help me pull some deep silver at a few spots Im sure of it! :icon_thumleft:

Got the f70 yesterday & it started raining bout the time I was assembling it. :( Woke up to 3 inches of snow so I doubt I'll get out today........maybe tomorrow. My girlfriend has used my 1st machine (prizm3) for about 4 years now & she likes it because its lightwieght. She compared the prizm to the f70 & thinks the fisher is lighter, now she wants one too. Ive been thinking bout letting her upgrade for a while now, I suppose she deserves it. :icon_thumleft:
