"Welcome Stranger Commemorative" {only 500 struck}

Hi all, On the home from hunting today i stopped a yard sale and purchased a medal.According to "Old Coins" Mag there were only 500 bronze medals made and a few in gold and silver.the article was written in 1969.Don,t quote me on this as it is a common practise to reproduce medals latter on.I will a coin expert on this but hoping for the real thing.

Nice medal TP! Is the Welcome Stranger one of those extra large gold nuggets or boulders found in Australia? I have an Aussie gold coin with the Hand of Faith on it. Hope it is the real deal and HH, Mike
