Still looking! Will update. Newbie to all.

Came across this nickel after cursing all the new ones. The face of Jefferson is almost completely devoid of detail, and the Monticello is as well except for the two outer posts. Of course I thought man made, as there are scratches, and I tend to think I see errors everywhere! But, it almost looks too perfect around edges of Monticello, and normal wear and tear around rest of coin. Sorry pictures aren't great, focus tough due to shiny face and back, and what I think is a matte finish on rest of coin. Any suggestions before I go :BangHead:
Thanks

One more thing pics don't show Everything else is light matte. If someone did this the back detail on top and around Monticello is quite good. Someone's messing with me!! Haha Karen

Yes they are. This is done on purpose after it was minted. The high points are polished off.

I'd guess it was done with Fine Sand Paper .
maybe even a dug coin, cleaned with sandpaper
on someones electric invention to clean a large amount at once.

If you zoom in, You can see the scratching

When I was a kid, about 50 years ago, we called this "whizzing". I used a stationary belt sander. I would "whiz" anything I could find that I thought I would not get in trouble about. Made a lot of washers out of coins with a drill press, too. Lots of fun.

Time for coffee.

Yup belt sander lol. I just found one two weeks ago on the East Coast and threw it back.

Yeah, just last night I found a weird looking Penny, lve learned take a pic to be able to zoom in. Someone tried to change a date..geesh!
I remember putting coins on railroad tracks to flatten them for fun. How we never died back then amazes me!
But, I'm so happy I have you all to bring my head out of clouds when I think I have the million dollar coin lol.
