Darn it Montana,your too quick!

Sorry diggum!

Here are some patent pics of the frog... I think the wire portions are aftermarket, or handmade? Maybe that portion was never patented... anyway, here are some examples... The first three patented in 1934, the last in 1937.

At the risk of being dumb. Whats a flower frog?

You cut the flowers - then place them in the "frog" which holds them up...

Today they use the green foam stuff... Um, best used in a container for arrangements.

No problem Jim. :) I agree about the wire attachments.Somebody probably added them to be able to accommodate a large arrangement perhaps to be used at a wedding or on a church altar or on the porch of a large house.

Dig...do you really think the rings were added? The tabs they are attached to appear to be cast with the base.

I'm just guessing I really have no idea.I searched for a while and I could not find any examples like this one.Only the Dazey models that Jim has shown.

What in the world kind of signal did you get with this thing and why on Earth would you dig that signal? :D Had to be the most irregular signal I would ever hear.

I hope I don't come across one of these on my very first expedition with my very first MD - if it stops raining here this weekend
Cheers, Mike

You guys just don't know mojjax,i'm sure he found this out in the barn or something, on that old farm he's living on.He's famous around here when it comes to "whatsits".I'm sure there have been a few we haven't been able to identify these past few years. :)

It's called a "loop flower arranger".

Patented in the mid 30's as a result of the popularity of ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). Lots of them on eBay. Typically costs more to ship than the sale price.

I don't know whether the Dazey company made flower fogs, or if that's what this is. I do know that they made rubber stamp holders for offices, and I think this may be one of them. The base is made to sit on a counter or desk and hold the many rubber stamps that post offices and business mailrooms used to use.

Nicely done A-Diggity-Dog-Angelo... I know I showed the patents for the others, but not from Dazey.
