First I find a merc in a spot I have never found anything after 1899 Then I hit a park that I thought I cleaned out of 40's -60's silver never found anything before 1944 and get 3 silvers (last post) next day meet a buddy and his son at the same park and he pops an 1898 Barber half. Today I go back to the old park and find nothing as I'm walkinng out of the woods I find the "Swamp root kidney cure" bottle. go back to the newer park hit this rock with my digging tool and it splits open I think its a fossil?????? and then find this cone shaped piece of metal. This is what makes this a great hobby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree Swamp Root Kidney Cure. You can always get another when the snake oil wagon comes back through town.

interesting! Nice times and kudos to the person who got that barber half! Only a handfull of folks can say they found those! I always look for cool old bottles and never found any full ones with messages on them! awesome!

neat bottle!!! MR TUFF

I love finding old stuff like that bottle - very nice.
If the piece of metal has a small opening on each end it may be a fishing weight.

Neat bottle and that lead piece is definitely a lead fishing weight..Have any close pics of the fossil?

Found a full set of Dr. Kilmers cures in the "big dig of '94" All "cure" bottles like your sample bottle. That dates it prior to the FDA act of 1906 that caused them to change the "cure" legend to "remedy". Still got a few of them somewhere in the crates...

If that is a rolled piece of brass or copper it might be a tinkel cone. Is it solid or rolled?

And a Barber half and a nice fossil?

Geez that's what we have to call hitting for the cycle! Awesome! Coin/bottle/artifact/fossil?!? Wow!
