Weird Square Nail

I know it's just a square nail, but I've never seen one that looks like this. Anyone know what it was used for? It's 2 inches long.

If it wasn't made with that head on purpose, it might have been a reused nail that was burned out of something else. therefore annealed and the head flattened when reused. But sometimes they made nails specifically for a purpose. Good luck figuring it out

I was thinking "boat nail" or "rose head nail"

Hand wrought but the smith put extra "flourish" on it by fattening the sides instead of a four or five petal "rose" head.
