I got in a few short hunts in the old city parks with MetalHeadz this weekend. He is on a Barber Dime streak this year. He popped another one on a slope at a more obscure dot and I asked to swing over it. My 600 only gave a 27/28 consistent signal 2-3” above the dime, on edge nothing. His 800 was giving decent repeatable signals 4-6” above. It’s probably time for me to clean out the coil cover and do a factory reset.

...but, I was swinging a nearby dot that had popped lots of 1800’s target for a quick after dinner hunt and got a deep 27-31 bouncy signal in the iron. After two scoops, maybe 8”.

A nice thin Barber of my own! Oh well, there goes my theory.

Here is the roundness for the weekend.

Some toys popped out. I think this is a gyroscope, Boy Scout knife and a CW lead soldier.

The flatbutton has some nice gilt on the backmark.

And drum roll please... my first ever holed ... spoon...

Seems like they holed everything back in the day.

Good luck out there!

Congrats on breaking your short lived silver slump Thad.
Here is some info on your button and the book it came from. Interesting that it says no known backmarks, but then the book was last updated in 2001

Thx Steve! I did a little research on the backmark and Philadelphia and did not come up with much. Only thing that came up was a 10 year old TNet post on the same backmark and someone responded with 1830’s. Thx

Very nice hunt, congrats! :occasion14:
