I was hunting one of my "old stand bye" parks this am with the Legend. Last fall I had gridded from the road 40 foot in and found a boat load of deep wheat pennies. This morning I kept the same pattern, but moved in a southerly direction. I have been hunting this particular park for 15 years or so and about one out of three times I find a wheat penny or silver coin.
I had hunted about 30 minutes with only two shallow nickels when I got a distinct 51 signal that would only occasionally repeat. It sounded good when it would hit, but I had a hard time pinpointing the target. It seemed bigger than a coin, but shortly I would figure out why. I dug a rusty iron button at about 8 inches, but had a feeling that was not the 51 signal. I repinpointed and got a smaller pinpoint and off from the button area. About two or three inches from the button I got the pinpointer to hit and found a very nice 1936 mercury dime. It was slightly deeper than the button. Finding silver from this park is rarity and the Legend did a great job of unmasking the merc.
If you know me, I also have an Etrac that I do well with, but just about every time I use the Legend, I find coins dating the places I hunt. I feel that I would only get better with the Legend if I used it more. Best bargain in the hobby!
