Hey friends!

Things are finally thawed in Northern Minnesota so I took my Garrett Ace 400 into the backyard. This is my first detector and will be my first year hunting. I’ve been digging up standard junk (nails, washers, an old grill brush) and loving every minute of it. I did find one thing that has me puzzled. I dug this rock about 4 inches down. It rings up as an 84-86 on the detector. It looks like a regular rock to me. Can anybody tell me what it is? Do you run into a lot of these type of things? Thank you for any help you might give. I’m looking forward to learning the hobby more :)

Hard to tell from the photos but since it is somewhat blue/greenish in color it could possibly be an oxidized copper nugget/ore. I think northern Minnesota would put you in the area where it is naturally found. Maybe try scratching it and see what the inside looks like?
