Hey I found this strange metal piece, while metal detecting. It was in with some pottery shards. Does anyone know what what it may have gone to? As always thanks for the replies! The circular piece appears to be attached, and was not screwed on. 454954EB-5334-4F19-BE5D-8278913C8BC2.jpeg

looks like the stud that hold a air cleaner on a carburetor.

Looks like a 3/8-16 stud. That would be heavy enough for a rocker arm. Exhaust manifold, or any number of things on an auto, truck, tractor, etc.

Thanks for the responses, these all seem like viable answers. Now it seems to date the chronology of the site as much later. It makes me wonder, with what appears to be tractor parts around various horseshoes and square nail all being in the same area. Thanks again!

This is called a stud bolt. To me it most resembles an intake manifold stud from a Ford V8 60s through the 90s. This would have been the stud the coil bracket attached to. Passenger side second bolt from front.

Yes, what they said. I have had to undo some on many occasions. Happiness is a deep well socket.
