Got me, I have hundreds of buckles & never seen one like it. Can't remember it in any books etc, so I'm going on my gut & saying late 19th C. I will watch & wait.

I guess with the bend it could be a weird 18th C knee buckle:dontknow:

Judging by the shape, I think it's a ladies buckle; mid to late 1800's.
Interesting find :)

This one is a mystery.
No search results googling either as "diamond shaped", "lozenge" or "rhomboid(al)" buckle...
Any other ideas?...

Since it is convex(or concave if looking at the bottom), it is the right shape and size for a ladies shoe buckle. If you will GOOGLE Victorian or Art Deco or Art Nouveau ladies brass shoe buckles, you will see many with the concave shape. They came in all different shapes and sizes with many various decorations. This diamond shaped one is very simple and plain, and not as decorative as the ones I've seen while searching.
