weights ? SOLVED

found these at the same site in different hunts the site is early 1700s there is a lot of oxidation on them and i think they were in the ground over 100 years they look like hand weights but i am not sure if the people were into fitness back in the 1800s as far as having weights manufactured i know weights are going to be the general consensus but would like to know if anyone has a different discovery thanks scott

People were definitely into fitness in the 1800s. The dumbell and barbell date to the late 19th century. Your objects look like weights to me - a fine pair. You might attempt electrolysis and see what happens.

If it was crystal I'd guess it was a huge Victorian knife rest.

Your welcome. It looks like a match. I think they are weights.

Heres a page from my 1909 Sears Roebuck & Co. I know its not definitive but it shows dumbells being used at the turn of the century. Yours can be older.
