This weekend was surprisingly fruitful for a holiday weekend, started off thrifting all morning Friday and spent $10, which yielded a 50¢ James Avery ichthus tie tack, ~2g 10k scrap chains & 3g 14k earrings, a handful of sterling odds and ends and some tchotchkes.
Saturday was garage sales from 7:30 to 10, 2.5 hours of soccer moms fighting over Lego that turned up a box of dog/mess towels, some books, Slumdog Millionaire & The Matador on dvd, a nice sturdy wooden practice katana and one tiny sterling ring. Stopped by the flea on a whim on my way home and scored a 10k pin and some charms for $5 right away. At the end of my circuit I spent $15 on a sandwich bag of costume & pm bin-picks: a half-oz sterling & tiger's eye ring, a sterling or 950 book charm circa 1950's, a large sterling pendant signed LP, and around 7g unmarked 10 & 14k scrap. All of the gold from Fri and Sat went to my scrap guy Sat afternoon.
Yesterday I headed back to the flea market looking for that same seller but they hadn't made it out. Felt better about it after snagging a 3g 14k puzzle ring for $5 and another quart-size bag of junk jewelry picks from a different vendor. Spent $12 on lots of crap and the non-ring gold pictured below (ring and stud 14, the rest 10). Love the Victorian watch fob but love paying bills more, unfortunately. At least buying ~ 20 g of gold for around $50 over a weekend lessens the sting somewhat.
I'm terrible at taking pictures of stuff before I unload it but here are my takes from yesterday. The last pic is the mark on the reverse of the sterling pendant. The Navajo/other native smiths that sign pieces "LP" used sans-serif lettering, and I haven't found anything else really close online. Anyone got any ideas?
