It has been tough trying to "normalize" myself after hunting in the North. It's not easy to go back to Rosies after you have dug a capped bust coin. I guess I could have worse problems though.

I headed out Saturday morning towards the usual suspects, torn down houses and assorted vacant lots. My second spot looked good, but almost all of them look good to me, as I am a bit of a sucker. I got a few modern coins, then a sharp high tone appeared. I dug this nugget and immediately knew what it was.

I quick wipe with my finger revealed a silver ring! A bit squished, but silver none the less.

Less than a half hour later, this chunk popped out one of my holes.

Once again, a quick wipe revealed a silver ring... with a gold edge!

However this one has a gold plated base with sterling inset... per the verbiage on the inside. People who buy cheap jewelry are going to be the death of me!

I'm still counting it as a silver ring.

As is the usual case, I dig an assortment of "relics". Just modern junk that sounds good, but aint!

Smittyman lined us up a permission on Sunday. I will go ahead and say it, he got the better of me at this spot. However, one of my holes had a shiny '53 Washington in it!

It was a nice weekend, with a couple of silver coins and a couple of silver rings... I got two junk rings too, and a Sacagawea dollar.

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts!

Good digging brother. Love the rings!

nice finds. I feel the same way every time I go to long island. I come back to western Ny and i'm like its old... but not 1600s to 1700s old, and i feel disappointed for a few hunts.

A good weekend indeed. Nice Rings

Heck yeah, that's a nice hunt tom!

Good weekend hunt Tom 2 silver rings and 2 silver coins not too shabby. Maybe you can suggest to your company that they need a temporary Northern branch (only during hunting season) and you would be glad to run it.

4 silvers...hard to complain about that. Well played, sir!

hard to come back to.... heck man, that's nothing shabby at all. I am a sucker for the rings, even the bling ones get excited for a moment or so. We have a special needs boy that we work with that says "almost" all the time and I say it on the plated rings. :headbang: but silver is still silver so its always awesome, just some a lot more awesome than others. congrats

Hey id take a couple of rings! Any silver is accepted. Congrats on the nice finds Tom!

Congrats on the nice digs Tom, I know what you're going through. It's hard to get motivated to go dig some rosies after you've hunted in NY & NJ digging the old stuff. You certainly had more luck than I did. I went back to a permission that had to have been pounded in the past. After 2 hours and only digging 2 memorial pennies I hit a couple schools just so I could have the pleasure of pulling coins. It was great to see that bright thing in the sky again after a week of rain. The temps were in the high 40's. All in all I was glad to be back out swinging the coil. I'd like to throw a Thanks out to the BOBS for sharing some sites with us and a special Thanks to Charlie and Lisa for putting me up for that weekend.

Hoping to get down your way sometime this summer so I can hunt with the silver mafia again.

Nice digs Tom. I suppose it is difficult to motivate after some old digs, but getting out is always nice nonetheless.
