Amazingly, the weather cooperated enough for me to take another trip to my favorite old "Seated Park", and as it has done SO MANY times in the past, it gave me another seated coin- an 1876 dime, the 30th seated coin (25th dime) that I have been fortunate enough to find at this park. Also scored 3 Indians and a few wheats, and this "gold" religious medallion. When it came out of the hole, it sure looked gold and even once I removed some of the dirt, it felt heavy enough and looked to be solid. That is until I got to check it under the loupe- imprinted on the reverse is 1/20 12K Gold Filled- damn! You can clearly see the plated & broken areas- oh well.

Most likely this was the last hunt of the year and for a while with forecasted weather (here's hoping for reverse psychology), and if so, at least it was a good one!

Happy Hunting to the fortunate ones who will still be able to hunt!

Jeff

Congrats on the seated... Just getting out to hunt this time of year is a blessing and you made some nice finds.

That's awesome your park is still throwing silver and IH's your way. Real good detail on the IH's.
maybe, just maybe the snow will coat the ground and keep it from freezing solid over the next few days, we can hope!
I only got clad and can slaw, it looked like they used it instead of confetti at the play ground!
I'll have to be creative and make some can slaw Christmas ornaments! Probably be more useful in home security! Lol!

Great hunt in any place, on any day right there. Congrats.:icon_thumleft:

I'm still hunting the beaches here in SoCal...some gold rings have been turning up...but no old coins. I've never found an Indian or a seated coin...I'd trade a gold ring for some old coinage :)

Really neat even though it is gold filled. Looks old.

I like a park that has that kind of history and age to it. You can only imagine the generations of adults and kids that must have ate and played there.
