Was a the in-laws house which was built in the early 1920's. It was a learning experience for me as there was so much iron masking (nails everywhere). I managed to find 14 wheats, something like 20+ shell casings, a large buckshot ball, a large caliber bullet, and my wife's favorite matchbox car from her childhood (which made her angry b/c she knew that it was lost by her little brother).

The wheat's include 1914; 1919 x3; 192? -s; 1926; 1939; 1940; 1941; 1944 x2; 1946 -d x2; 1 beyond identification. I feel like I just scratched the surface. People believe that this house was a rum running stop during prohibition and that there was even a still in the basement. With the sheer number of shell casings in the small front yard (plus bullets that seemed to be shot at the house) I would not doubt this. I look forward to hunting there more ( hopefully when I have a 11" DD coil to deal better with all the iron).

And my wife's favorite car, which she only played with inside (but she always suspected her younger bro taking it out):

Wow! Speakeasy feeder shop, lots of bullets....
Might not want to dig too deep! Then again might want to rent a bobcat!

Nice yard finds!

Great start at that location Jon. How did you have the F70 set up? I have found that when there is a lot of iron, its best to run these settings.

Disc: 6
Tones: 1
Processing: DE
Sensitivity: As high as it will go while still being stable

Here is an excerpt from the article linked below,

"When the F-75/F-70 is placed on a Disc setting of '6' and 'monotone'; This set-up config allows (under MOST circumstances) the best iron see-thru ability in locating non-ferrous targets in areas that are loaded with ferrous (usually nails) environments. The older the site, the more nails will be present; subsequently, the more good targets will be masked. Most detectors will 'shut-down' under these scenarios. The F-75/F-70 (& T-2) are the only detectors currently available on the market that begins to tackle this type of (extremely common) scenario.... with some 'unmasking' success.

With F-75/F-70 Disc on '6' and 'monotone', the moment you invoke a different tone option; Say 2-tone, 3-tone, 4-tone, etc., the ‘audio’ portion of the Disc, even though Disc is set on '6' it will instantly become a Disc setting of '15'. What does this mean? Any target that is between a Disc level of "6 thru 15" will now audibly report as a "Low Tone" (iron tone). BIG PROBLEM for a multiplicity of reasonings. Now, any target that is ABOVE a "15" (VDI reading) MIGHT report a higher tone(tone freq depending on what tone option is invoked). Most folks do not dig iron. And most folks WILL miss masked non-ferrous targets when multitones are selected."

D-Dub,
I've read Tom's stuff before and it has been helpful. To my understanding the disc=6 setting only works with the double d (f-75 coil installed) -- I could be wrong on that. I used disc = 0, DE (tried SL some), Thresh 0 to 1, could get sens up to about 65-70. Of all those wheat pennies only 1 registered in the coin range. Instead of the typical 66-70 for a wheat, they were all over from 30 to 55. Also most signals were very faint, even shallow ones. I found pinpoint helpful b/c it seemed to cut through a little better at what I was looking at.
I had tried there about 2 months ago, before reading NASA tom's info, and I would not even get a signal (I had disc at 15) or in Autotune (I'd sound off faintly with no vdi #'s). When I get the f75 coil, I will try the settings you list.

I don't see why those settings would only be for the DD coil but I guess they could be. I have been super happy with the F75 and DD coil so far. I heard it makes a big difference on the F70. That should open up some old ground for you.

Nice finds!!!

I'm still trying to figure out that car... :icon_scratch:

What is it supposed to be? What does it say on the bottom?

It looks to me like the shaft turned the white thingy?

I'm perplexed!

Jon,
Not too shabby. I agree with you on that DD coil. You will have much better luck.

Cool digs! So is that toy a coring machine to drill to the center of the Earth?

Great finds for sure!!!

Great finds and cool story regarding the matchbox car. Good luck on future hunts at this site. Look forward to seeing additional finds! Additionally, I would recommend the DD coil on the F70. It makes it alot more stable. I had an F70 before getting a Etrac this spring and the DD makes a big difference in my opinion.
