I haven't gotten to go hunting is quite a while. So this past weekend i was determined to go. I have been trying to find some new places to hunt, so this was kind of a test day. In my opinion it is kind of hard to find places to hunt here in Germany where you won't get in trouble or harassed. I hunted several locations and pretty much found a lot of beer cans and pull tabs. At the third place that I hunted the general area has been occupied by people from the Celtic times all the way to modern times.
I found a modern looking buckle. A whatsit. A shattered front plate to an old brass door knob. Another whatsit. What looks like a piece of shrapnel. I have found several of these things with the same markings and have no idea what they are. A pull pin like device. It is made of a light aluminum type material and the pin part is hallow. A bent brass ring. This too is hallow, and appears to be rolled into a solid looking shape. My best find of the day is this dagger. I found it about 11" down. It is 10.25" long overall, with a 5.75" blade. As you can see the blade is a very sturdy "spear" shaped piece. The blade is 5/16" thick at its thickest on the back of the blade and tapers off to a sharp edge. If anyone has an idea about its age or era I would greatly appreciate the information. Not pictured is a WWII era Garand magazine of blank ammo, and a 1968 2 Mark piece.
The other side of the dagger and the back side of the hallow brass link.
A view from the top of the dagger. As you can see the tang is slightly bent.
Thanks for looking, HH
