Very cool finds as always. Ever find any King George V??

:icon_thumright: Nice Finds

Like following another cent opener.

Is that 1944 made of bronze or brass.. in 1944 our Canuck nickels were made from steel. They first had a thin coating of nickel and then chromium over that.

Tombacs, being a brass or bronze mix, have that yellowish colour.

So , While it is a nice find, it is not a tombac...The tombacs were only made in the years of 1942 and 1943 and very early 1944. In fact, there were only 8000 or so made of tombac in 1944. If you find one of those, you have some serious money

how would i be able to determine if it were tombac or not? it doesnt feel like brass or bronze

The first thing you will notice is the colour.. The tombac is a brownish yellow colour... It is after all, a brass or bronze construction.

If you are still in doubt, use a magnet... steel will obviously be attracted... the true tombac will not.

If neither of these work, send me your address;.. I will send you one

so you're saying a magnet will determind if it is tombac or not. i'll post later on results

Do you use a Ryedale for those cents?

No i just do them by hand with my girlfriend. I don't really have a location where i could put that machine or have any disposable money to spend on it

That will work beautifully.

I just put one on my tombac and they did not stick.. A steel one will.

Let me know if you want one

no need to send me anything man but i appreciate it! i love the look of them and i have to find a magnet in the house somewhere tonight.
