Been one week since they started slab yanking again on the sidewalks of hometown Il. and haven't gotten the timing right yet. Missed a lot of the primary work but the recap:
Marinedad and dbennet7 came out to play day one, last Tuesday. It was a new md'ing scene to them, they were almost right under the gradall bucket. I turned on my rig and immediately upon setting to the ground found that '47 merc. That gets either better or worse as you folks know.
Then the clad came... and came. How so much gets under the sidewalk astounds me. Most all mems too. But that day I did get the occaisonal wheatie and two fine V nicks, 1907 and 1911 and that souvenier spoon from the Chicago Worlds Fair. It's marked "Worlds Fair City" and has a Chris C face on the top, with "1492" below it. One slightly used suspender clip. Also eye balled several marbles among them this large German brown bennie! Woo Hoo!
Since then it's been clad fest with the occasional wheaties (just how many 1919's are out there?) and a couple more toasty IH's, that cleaner 1903 today. They are pulling slabs again today so tomorrow it's back to the slabs, come what may.
Fun begins in a few weeks when the landscapers come in and start tearing up the parkways. Crossed fingers until then.
