These rings were found yesterday. The story begins. One of my best friends, his wife and rest of the family are vacationing this week in Gulf Shores, Alabama. They are on the beach at this time. I live in Northwest Arkansas. My phone rings around 12:30 pm yesterday. My friend says his wife had taken her rings off and wrapped them in a hankerchief and put them in her pocket while preparing hambugers for lunch. Shortly after, she takes the hankerchief out of her pocket. Having forgotten about the rings, they are lost in the sand. My friend wants to know if he should go and try to buy a metal detector. He has never used one. He also tells me that he had already contacted a person that would come and look for $200.00 dollars per hour. I said whoa, lets think about this for a few minutes. I told him not to do anything until I got back to him. We hung up and I started to search the internet. I first looked for metal detecting clubs in and around that area. Could not find any that had a phone number. I did find a page that had three phone numbers for dealers of metal detectors in that area. I called the first one and it was a number in New Jersey that supplied detectors in that area. Not good! I called the second number and low and behold it was a number in New York. The man that I talked to was very nice and told me that he was good friends with a lady that sold detectors in the Gulf Shores area. He gave me her number. I called and left a message on the answering machine. This lady called back after about 20 minutes. I told her the situation. She said to give her a few minutes and she would call me back. I called my friend back and told him what was going on. About 15 minutes later the lady called me back and told me to give her my friend's phone number. She had a friend who lived 40 miles from Gulf Shores that would help him find the rings. I told her how much I appreciated that. I called my friend again and told him what was going on at this time. Around 6:30 pm my phone rings. It is my friend and I told him to give me some good news. He says, "I owe all to you my man". This fellow had gotten in touch with my friend. They met and recovered the rings in about 10 minutes. My friend said he tried his very best to pay the man but he would not take anything. A lot of good people in this world. A very nice ending.....

It is always nice to hear of a good deed! That took a lot of organizing on your part too! Congrats on aiding in the recovery.

They guy who found the rings was probably a T-net member!!!

Crazy question, but was the guy in NY, who sold detectors, named Mike?

Great story, hats off to you...

American by birth, Patriot by choice.

I would rather die standing on my two feet defending our Constitution than live a lifetime on my knees......

That required a lot of kind people along the way - so glad it worked out!

Wow , that is a heartwarming story - nice to hear the positive side of this pastime (addiction) now and then !
