with Spring around the corner just had to make the trip to our WW1 site, still lots of patches of snow around but the ground was soft.
Not too many older finds but still an interesting day out...I did find a US nickel dated 1940 but with it in the same hole were two steel discs one a little larger than the other were they coins?? ....another belt end from WW1 "don't know how these guys kept their pants up" ..A US boy scout woggle/toggle , one really nice 48th Highlanders button and a few wheat's also a nice "art deco" buckle made by HIGKOK or HICKOK USA .....HH...Bonz IMG_3916.JPGIMG_3917.JPGIMG_3918.JPGIMG_3919.JPGIMG_3920.JPGIMG_3921.JPGIMG_3922.JPG

Those discs in the same hole as the 1940 nickel could have been 1943 steel US pennies. They don't do too well in the ground so it's tough to say for sure, but a little pocket spill from that date range would make sense.

Love the old buckles and buttons ya' got there. That 48th button is ROCKIN'!:headbang:

Congratualtions on the nice hunt...cool buttons! :occasion14:
