I am pretty sure that bird is a phoenix....could be off a fireplace .....dont think its a weathervane part....notice the two bolts (one missing) .....Phoenix would be set at a rising position......

Could look like a Griffin, too. The end of the tail looks like the feathers turn into a lion tail. Yep, Phoenix or griffin.

Or maybe it's from the top of an old coal/wood stove ?
