hey everyone, got out this weekend to get a little detecting in with Jer. he had a new spot, so we went to test it and got a few things. i found a nice WWI eagle pin but its missing one half. got two wheat's a 1917 and on from the 40's. got a charm that i thought was silver but it looked weird so i wiped it in the field to see if it was silver and all i saw was a stamp that said fine pewter. i also got a really nice button with a roman lady on it or something of that sort. i thought the piece of gold was real too cause it was gold out of the hole but i guess it was just a really good plate. found an old pocket knife and minimal relics.

i hunted and got most of these finds on Saturday when it was freezing and then on Monday when it was warm i got out in the field and 20 Min's. later my batteries died on me. what a bummer, but i managed to pluck 7 quarters within the 20 Min's. kind of a dissapointment because that has never happened to me before. i thought that they were OK cause when i turned my machine on it said 10.4 volts and i figured it would last for two hours, but that was what they read after the batteries sat for two days. i suggest to hunters that they carry and extra set cause you never know...

take care and thanks for looking...Lance

Nice lance. Squeezing every last ounce out of that scanner Lol literally to.

See you this weekend for the steeler game and maybe a hunt.

HH Jer

Nice variety of finds Lance. Too bad about that WW1 eagle pin ,it would have been a nice keeper.
It's always good to check your battery level after your first 10 minutes of hunting. This will give you a true reading of your battery power. There's nothing worse than having to leave a good site just because you were in too much of a hurry to make sure you brought spares. Been there !Done that!
HH!

;D I was expecting a picture of you! All bundled up and peering through your ski mask! :D

Sorry to hear about your battery mishap....

Congrats on your finds!

;)

thanks guys... Jer i need to grab that cannon off of you bad (i noticed that you could tell) ill talk to you tomorrow.

i wasnt bundled up enough. didnt know that it was as cold as it was but i still hunted anyways. had the ski mask on, no lie, it was cold.

the battery thing stunk a little bit but i through my detector in the trunk and hunted with Jer. mainly kept his son Jake busy though. lol
the eagle pin was a bit weak. what can you do. i did search for the other half but didnt come up with it.

thanks agian for checking out the post.

good luck on future hunts everyone... Lance

Hey Lance,
Do you use the Ni-Cad battery pack? I recently bought Ni-MH rechargeables. For 8 it was $12(walmart). These things last so much longer that that Ni-Cad pack. And the nice thing is you don't have to worry about the memory effect so if you want to make sure the batteries are good for 10+ hours, then just charge them before you go.

Anyway, you got all that in 20 minutes? Very good. It was probably killin you to see what Jeremy was digging after your batteries went dead. :D Well, better than sitting home I guess.

thanks guys. i do use panasonic rechargables but i didnt bring them cause i had some double A's and they were still good so i was just using them up but they died. i didnt get it all in one hunt it was two hunts for all the stuff but i lost my batteries on the warm day and had a good charge on the cold day.

yeah from now on ill carry and extra set... now i see that it can be very important. you live and you learn

thank guys and best of luck on future hunts.
