Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
Dman and I arrived at the CSA Camp just at daylight. We hoped to find a few deep relics before the storms hit Middle Tennessee today. The humidity was very high and the bullets were deep at the hard hunted CSA Camp. The ground was a lot harder than we expected and we had to be careful digging to avoid damaging any relics found. Dman used his SE and MXT and I took my F75 (That I am still learning but really like so far).
We stayed almost 2.5 hours and Dman found a dropped .577 cal. Enfield bullet and a .58 cal. 3 ringer. I dug the bullets in the pic today except for the dropped .69 3 ring "Big Boy" that I recovered at another CSA Camp 2 weeks ago. The relics have always been fairly deep at the camp we hunted this morning and today was no exception as they ranged from 6-9 inches deep. Not banner finds but we will take them in a hot Tennessee summer. As I told Dman, any time you can find nice Confederate relics to add to your relic collection, you have had a good hunt.
Good Hunting and check out our CW Relic Hunting article and Modern Miner's article in the August issue of Western and Eastern Treasures Magazine. Stay COOL Nick, BB, Ringfinder, and Bama Nana!!!

YTD CW Relics found=96

Re: We Left At First Light-To dig CSA Relics in Tennessee

Nice job guys. :icon_thumleft: Way to go on the CW relics. That heat is a killer for sure.
CW lead is better than rusty plow tips & horseshoes. What kind of soil are you digging in over there? Clay? Roots?
Come on fall!!! ;D
Looking forward to reading your article Q & DM.

MM, the soil is not clay and has been cropped but has a lot of chunk rocks and gravel making it real hard to dig when dry. This was an early CW Camp and few buttons have been dug there. I only know of 2 and one was a cuff eagle button. I agree, come on fall!! Thanks to all who replied.
