Received new detector yesterday and was hoping the supposed 45 degree weather would make today somewhat bearable..wow was I wrong. Woke up to 23 degrees not counting windchill but going to tough it so I can test out the machine. We get to the hunting grounds and the detector works fine but the shovels don't..ground was frozen solid. Guys I was with were pogoing on their shovels so time to pack it in. Who else is having same issues? I hate not being able to get out and do some digging especially when I get a new machine in hand.

been really nice here in Nebraska but it seems the ground here refuses to thaw out! getting real impatient.

Hang in there. Spring is coming. Excuse me now, I have to go turn on the a/c before I sweat to death.

Our ground is concrete from November through at least March. When it starts to thaw, the first places i hit are usually school grounds, where all the coins and trinkets lost in the snow all winter are lying on top of the ground. The paths where kids walk from the school to the playgrounds are good, as are areas where snow from sidewalks has been piled. Once there is bare ground, the first places to thaw are southern facing slopes, which may be diggable when flat surfaces are still frozen solid.

23°F? Sounds good. We could use those extra 20 degrees hereabouts.

I'd rather fall and hit my head on asphalt than the concrete dirt..that's if you could see it under the three feet of snow covering it :laughing7:
Though with weather statements like this I doubt it will thaw anytime soon.

Clear and bright, peeked out the blind, flag a flapping, snow a blowing. AH! Needing all the foul weather gear on to walk the pup -25 wind chills of -38 another 8" of snow yesterday. No + temps in the long range forecast over the next two weeks just all minus.

Waaaaaaay too much winter!

We hit -6 then the wind kicks in hard last night. Let the faucets trickle a bit so it wouldn't freeze the pipes..eehh wrong..not enough, my pipes froze but I did get the heat lamps going and thawed us out thank the Lord nothing busted
