I found these two brass objects at a plantation site that was occupied in the 18th century. The larger one was found last year & I found the other one yesterday. When I found the one last year I thought it was the frame of a rectangular wax seal, with the stone missing (as is common for dug wax seals); they are both made of brass. When I found the smaller one yesterday I was thinking that it was another seal frame until I realized that the rectangular bottom part is too thin to hold a stone.

I am wondering if these might be game pieces that would rest on the rectangular part (as seen in the last picture). Possibly chess pieces? One looks like a pawn to me, and the smaller one could possibly be a rook(?)

Any and all ideas/possibly ids are welcome; help me figure out the mystery :icon_scratch:

The brass piece is a 'leather slide/guide', like a belt slide but held leather straps together on a horse, late 18th-19th C.

Solved!
