waterproof without headphone

The AT Pro does has a waterproof speaker, but there is no volume control. Volume control for the AT Pro is on the headphones. If your beach noise is anything like ours, you won't be able to hear the target response very well. I recommend using the headphones provided with the detector or upgrade to the waterproof headphones that Garrett sells; they are supposed to be better and more comfortable.

Sure you it can operate underwater without the headphones but the sound it very muted and worse the beeping attracts attention, mostly crooks wanting what they think is a gold ring. Attracts dogs and kids too.

Interesting topic. So, it will work under water without headphones. That is cool. But nobody will do this. That is really cool.

thx guys for the info .
I wanna buy a water scoop but the are not for sale in spain ,i think i order 1 in usa.
The beaches here are quiet now , tourist season is over.
So i can dive to the bottom en let the md floating :icon_thumleft: .
I only search to hip height .
Beach for today is http://g.co/maps/Ruy4

The problem I have is the speaker is not very loud. I prefer to use headphones to hear those deep targets that I may otherwise miss.

I'll also add, that if you are hunting in hip deep water, most likely your detector control box is underwater and thus the target signal will be muffled even more by the water. I'd probably make my next purchase a set of the Garrett waterproof headphones....

Can you use "regular" headphones for land use? Will there be any way to adjust the volume if the headphones don't have a volume control? And if not is the preset level on the quiet side or loud through the headphones?

The headphone connector is not your standard 1/4 headphone connector, it is a special o-ring gasketed connector. There is no way to use regular headphones WITHOUT purchasing Garrett's 1/4" headphone adapter, PN: 1626000.....$39.95 Unless you are willing to sacrifice the headphones that came with your detector and make your own adapter. The adapter is not waterproof and using it in the water is not recommended.

The AT Pro comes with headphones with volume control. The Waterproof headphones that Garrett sell also has built in volume control.
