I've had that problem a couple times with an eliminator coil. Opened it up immediately and dried as much as I could. Then air dried. Sealed back with silicone caulk, and put a bead around the joint. It worked and didn't leak again. Never tried it on a 530 or other stock coil but I'd guess timing is everything.

If the water was dirty, I'd give it another bath in fresh, clean water. Then air dry it. A good RTV is what I'd seal it up with.

I would only attemt this if the coil was out of warranty and sometimes the manufacturer would have fixed it for free. All your out is shipping. Most times messing with the coil changes its calibration to that detector. Result, wasting your time detecting with a detector that isn't up to the task anymore.

thanks for replies... i have since dried the insides out.....i hooked it up to my 5900 prior to putting it back in the plastic cover and it seemed a whole lot less chattery ... so took 2 c -clamps ,closed the gap ,cleaned and sanded it....then used pvc primer and cement.....it looks real pretty like it was never apart however im gonna let the cement cure a little more before i give it the true test....
