The two things I like most. I'd have to metal detect that spot. A very good hunt thanks for sharing.

Dirt fan we shot it with a gps just so I could do that. I hiked to the area above on a deer trail and went home and studied my civil war atlas. . Will have Tesoro's next trip.

Sounds like It's gonna be a really good one. Keep us posted for sure.

Nice hunt TnMt. I like that in situ of the two bullets close together. Very cool. Your point might also be a Simpson, though I think they are mostly found further south.

Fun hunt. Not sure what it is. I thought Dalton maybe but it went out to fat?? Not sure..was my best guess. Simpson would be south of me

You killed the finds today. Congrats.

Thanks everyone. The bullets were a nice treat. They are called drops when not fired as these were. More than likely fell out of the pouch of a soldier. I have dug many from own yard. I thought it was a neat time frame also. Kind of where it all starts and really ends around here. Full circle day. :icon_sunny:

Great finds, TnMountains. They remind me of a small group of artifacts and CW relics I purchased years ago (for very little) which came from a then privately owned farm in Gettysburg, PA, located between the Union and Confederate lines in the path of Pickett's Charge. One of the artifacts was a broken Early Archaic point. The Native American who discarded it could not have known that several thousand years later, the bloodiest battle ever fought in the Western Hemisphere would come to its conclusion over that same patch of ground.

Of course, 200 years ago, one could have purchased, for $1.25, an acre of land within sight of Fort Dearborn on the Chicago River. Pretty good investment for what now is the land underneath the Sears Tower.

I really like the Paleo piece - that alone would have made my collecting season, let alone the day.

Looks like a great day out of the house and, for the third time or so, awesome pic of the two minnies.

Nice finds, looks like you had a fun day.
Thanks for sharing sweetheart.

Molly.

What is interesting is that during the civil war there was much down time for the boys and men. Periods where not much was going on. I have read many times that they would excavate Indian mounds and hunt arrowheads. Am reading a book right now where a large gun was placed on a knoll and the soldiers were digging trenches looking for arrowheads and when they fired the big gun the knoll (mound) collapsed. I am not sure how to transfer those pages to here other than scanning. I might do that be fun to share.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
