Saw these in the mall fountain today. Thought it was pretty sweet! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1420228425.576702.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1420228436.642564.jpg

Anyone know where the last coin is from?

"Take a penny, leave a penny"...?
Or would that be bad etiquette?

I've been wanting to see about starting a business to clean out fountains for them for that very reason...

That copper coin with the big ONE CENT inside the wheat stalks is from the former USA, when a gallon of gas was .24c, a loaf of bread 19c, First Class stamp was .04c, unfortunately the economy of that former country was destroyed when the government learned to "fine tune" the economy. These old coins still appear in circulation and are reminders of the former glory of a people who have been sold down the river, and their real money of gold, silver and copper was replaced with metallic junk coins, along with their way of life. Did you have written permission from Coin Czar to photograph this historical relic? There are severe outcomes for people who attempt to disturb such an archaeological site without permission from the proper authorities! I hope your papers are in order comrade, as the work camps need manpower and you might be selected to do your patriotic duty by being volunteered to occupy a slot in one. I may have to report this incident to the local authorities....

Those other two, other than the "wheatie," are from Aruba, a tiny island in the Caribbean belonging to the Netherlands.

I just realized it is pretty bad if we are gawking over coins in a fountain but man would it be nice to go through one!!!!

I've done it before. I once spotted a 1913 wheat cent (really worn, just knew it had to be something old) in one side of a water fountain. Took it out and exchanged it lol.

i want to find a wishing well an see what kinds of coins are not in there for research reasons

better be careful doing that some organization or charity has rights to that moolah.last summer a supervisor of public works got nabbed for cleaning out the local fountain.YEP! financed his so called fountain car (hot rod) YEP!lost his $100,000 year job.OUCH ???did'nt hear anything about his pension.AH LIFE IS GOOD!you better check the internet and see if theres any pictures of you posted doing that.

I always carry some corroded dug zincsies around to swap out at places like this, and the familiar leave a penny take a penny trays at many retail locations. It's all the same according to the government, for instance try paying your taxes with old 90% silver coins, and see if you get credit for anything above their face value. So, a penny for a penny, nobody's out anything, and I might even swap 2 pennies for an Indian Head, but only if I'm feeling generous.
