I found this Saturday at a different house built in 1850, iirc. I think it is a watch winder, but would love either confirmation of that or some other suggestions. Thanks in advance!

yup, ive dug one similar in area where i was digging civil war relics.
be careful with that ring on the end, mine broke off easily.

Yes! No doubt in my mind! That is a Pocket watch key.I agree with all of the above! I collect them. Here's a pic of some similar.
