Poison ivy, snakes, ticks and an occasional Bigfoot...

The woods sound like a dangerous place.

Much safer on the beach and in the surf with sting rays, jelly fish and sharks.

I have my own beasts I deal with here in Vegas lately on my hunts... Crackheads, prostitutes, pimps and the run of the mill thugs. Scary jungle out there. Can tell were all die hard detectorists or maybe were all just a lttle insane. Lol.

spent 4 days in the hospital several years back with rocky mountain spotted fever from a tick. I hate ticks!

Here is a natural tick repellant that you can whip up yourself quite cheaply...and it works! Have not had a tick on me in years while detecting the fields and woods.

As for snakes, walk carefully and keep your eyes open. High top boots or snake chaps are also recommended.

Snakes are out are so are arrowhead hunters. Wasn't using my headphones, a guy heard my detecting signals and approached me with a 14 in. bread knife that he was using to dig artifacts with. I quickly dropped my detector & grabbed my AR-15 as he approached, the rest is history...

Mmmmmmmmmm - snakes - good eatin, like all reptiles are. Ticks, not so much.

I noticed those darn ticks appeared a couple of weeks ago. Already pulled a number of them off me and two of them out of me. My favorite was when I was driving back from a site I was hunting and felt something on my face. Looked in the rear view mirror and sure enough there was one crawling up my cheek towards my eye. They are at their worst in early spring and late fall.

I usually have my Doberman with me in the woods, he keeps off most the predictors and doesn't scare off the relics
