Wasn't a Barber but I'll take it

Was out for a morning hunt in the woods with DP Bob, Kimsdad, D-Dub & Looking4Seated
but but found narry a coin. . . instead, I settled for an old black powder flask nozzle.

And now matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find the flask :(

Thanks for looking!

Nice find, Mark!!

What really amazes me is that usually, no matter how obscure the relic is, you can ID it.

You are either really smart or really old! ;D

The latter :P. . . now where did I put those meds. . . :tongue3:

Re: Wasn't a Barber but I'll take it

My exact words were... when he showed me it...

I can't say them here........

It's amazing how you know 99.9% of the relics you find.

Me I said it was from a flute....

Boy I sure sounded stupid when he told me what it was... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Re: Wasn't a Barber but I'll take it

I was with you on the flute Bob.

Nice find Mark. It cleaned up really nice. Sometimes a really cool relic is as good as an old coin.

Re: Wasn't a Barber but I'll take it

Never seen one like it before! I like the adjustable grain device on it. Regular load or Magnum!

Great find!

Now your talkin' old! Got a finial from a ramrod at a site once and a lock plate at another, let's build a set sometime!

D-Dub Dan got a bullet Sunday that looked like a modern semi-wadcutter, maybe he can post a pic for more positive ID. Didn't think it was old per se, but perhaps a relatively recent shot that didn't have any strike indications on it.

Re: Wasn't a Barber but I'll take it

Thanks everyone for the comments!

I just learned from Charlie P that this was a "shot snake" instead of a powder spout.
Instead of gunpowder, it was filled with shot pellets (shotgun) and the company that made this
particular piece was circa 1850. So. . . there's GOT to be some Seated's around :icon_pirat:

I actually found two. I thought the first one I found was smaller but they were both the same size. 7/8" x 1/2"

Both are excellent finds.....Expecially the old black powder flask nozzle.........You will not see more than 1 in 100 detectorists that has found something like that..........W.T.G.
