The stuff about Victor Smith is all way off, it is the same info as in the GPAA guide. The strongbox went down on a ship on the way to San Francisco. There was however confirmed by one of his relatives, a box of gold double eagles (about 6k worth from when he sold his house) that was lost in a mudslide down by the Dungeness Customs house. Victor Smith was quite the character in this area, lot of info about him around.

Has anybody ever heard of any buried treasure in Washington State or Cashes? all I ever read about is the Mid West or the East Coast. If not maybe someone can reccommend a good book or map on this subject? fairly new to the Metal Detecting game!!! But, do very well at Gold Panning! Thank you
