Hello,
Unfortunately we recently lost our long time customer service manager because she moved across country so it seems the communication and information has not been 100 percent accurate in the transition to our new customer service manager.
Here is a quote from a newsletter sent in late 2008 to our dealer and distributor network regarding lower rods and washers.
"We have retooled our lower stems on many models and we will start to see these new lower rods in the coming weeks. The main difference in these rods is they were designed to be used without washers at all so be prepared for customers saying they received detectors without washers. This is a superior new design and the use of washers with this new stem may result in coil damage."
This transition from one washer to no washers should be identifiable through the manual and/or “read this first sheet” provided with the detector that may be in question. Chances are good if there are no washers that is the “no washer” lower rod- same with the one washer lower rods. Since it is a transitional period and old stock in the pipeline mixes with new stock there may be both styles available.
Many times we rely on our dealers and distributors to pass along information and answer questions to the end users after they purchase the detectors. If the info we provided with the detector fails, and the dealer is unable to provide answers we certainly should be able to provide the right information through a phone call or email. I apologize that this was not the case.
If in the future anyone on this forum is not getting answers through the normal channels feel free to drop me an email and I will try to help and get the right info to you. Also please shoot me an email if you feel the new rod without washers does not work as it should so I can pass along to the proper channels. This is the first report I have heard regarding coil “flop” and false signals due to no washers. If it might be a problem we want to hear about it ASAP.
Warranty info----The purchase date on your receipt is the start of your warranty date not the manufacture date of the detector.
Thanks for the support,
Mike Scott
