As previously mentioned, it does lock like a rock. If it did not give off a tone signal, this too would indicate a rock. You mention that it was found at an old site, but leave out what size it is, or its weight.
Scratch it with a nail and your question may be answered.

Lead will for sure give a tone. If no tone rock for sure.

It's about 5 inches and weight of 10 oz. Dug in central Florida where no natural rocks are

But that is not the issue. The issue is, is it metal. If no signal a rock. If a signal it could be lead.

If you really don't believe me that this is a rock, go drop it on your driveway. If stuff breaks off, it's a rock. If it goes flat on one side..

Or you could try biting it. Rock will not deform, but lead will.

Or go grab a fork and push it into the thing. If there are 4/5 noticeable indentations created, then maybe you have lead. If you can't push it in at all then, rock.

The easiest way though would be to swing a metal detector over it -- if it beeps then it's metal. If not..
