When light goes thru the color is deep orange but some parts dont look translucidQuartz rock smoothened over time by river water. I see rocks like those being used for landscaping.
Iron oxides and(or) inclusions often make minerals like quartz opaque (creates Citrine). However, in very thin sections light can transmit through, noting the deep orange-red color. When light goes thru the color is deep orange but some parts dont look translucid
Even magnetic?Iron oxides and(or) inclusions often make minerals like quartz opaque (creates Citrine). However, in very thin sections light can transmit through, noting the deep orange-red color.
It seems much different than citrine or quartz since it lacks also the microcrystalline flair as does this perhaps have? The colors are so different. Im wondering if it could be something totally differentIron oxides and(or) inclusions often make minerals like quartz opaque (creates Citrine). Does making it opaque take away any vitreous shine ? Shall i break with a hammer to reveal what is in?Iron oxides and(or) inclusions often make minerals like quartz opaque (creates Citrine). However, in very thin sections light can transmit through, noting the deep orange-red color.
While there is iron present in Citrine there is not enough to react to magnets.Even magnetic?
I believe your second figure is quartz, evident by vitreous flaking on its surface. It also appears to have smooth color transitions which could be banding and may be a variety of chalcedony. As it would limit light travel though it would appear less vitreous imo. But not completely, (Near the surface). Yours does not look completely opaque. Hope this helps.Does making it opaque take away any vitreous shine ? Shall i break with a hammer to reveal what is in?
