Hi guys, I was RangerGal1 but lost my email and now am DarlingGirl!

It's been a long time since I posted, so I don't mind starting over again. I've only found small change and a few costume jewelry finds, but this summer I'm going to go wild!

I do fairs for a local charity, and as a result, will have early info on where to hunt afterwards.
I'm also going to join the local historical society. I hope to gain access to local historic lands through them - even if I can't keep my finds, I look forward to contributing to the local museums.

I use a White's IDX Pro (only my second metal detector)...
My passions are curb diving and beach detecting since I live on the bay - Long Island, Mastic Beach NY.
Lots of wooded properties out here, too, but the historical maps are sadly lacking - I'm going to have to go it on smarts.

Welcome aboard DarlingGirl! Take a look at Sub-Forums: New York for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Hi from near Nyack, N.Y. I'm sure your local county historical society has maps and probably reprints you can buy for a small fee. I got 1854 and 1876 maps from my historical society and they are very accurate. As for donating things to local museums, I avoid doing so since most of them don't know what they are, have nobody there who knows about preserving them, have so much stuff donated to them most of it is never seen by the public, and they sometimes sell off donated items to support themselves.
