Might be a bit rusty from last year with my F5.
But I was hunting a park I already ben at last year and was hitting junk again.
So I notched out Fe, Foil, Tab and Zink Leaving only 5c Dime, Qtr and 50c

I found I got my Gain all the way up to max at 99 and Threshold to max at +9 with out chater till I got a hit.
The ground was wet and the fe meater was at Med. Is this normal???
This is the first spring I'ev had it. I hunted with it last summer and but ground was some what dry!
Regards
Bobby.

When you use a lot of gain the wet ground reads differently and targets are not as they would appear if set normally. You could actually be missing targets by letting the detector see to much and a deep or small target wouldn't generate enough signal to break thru the threshold adjustment. Your better off toning it down to presets or just above and not maxed out.

Don't try to notch out to much. I found that I found more good items will be mised. I listen closely to the sound of the tones. Before my F5 might show a pull tab and I would not dig it. Then I found out to pay closer attention to what it is telling me and more good finds came. Good luck.
