Hey hey fellow treasure hunters, well got a strange hit on my Explorer se the other day and just had to see what it was. Well after digging a pretty deep plug and finding it was still in the hole, I dug a little deeper and could see part of the target. It was pretty mangled and folded so in the pouch until I got home. After a little water and careful unfolding I found that it was a US hat plate from the war of 1812. I myself interested in the war of 1812 was thrilled to have found one indeed. In the past I have only found a few other relics from that time and sure hope I can find a few more. Well thanks much for looking and HH.

Jay

The one with red I found.

Those shako plates are often found like that. If you want it repaired there's guys that can work miracles on such things. Still a great find no matter the condition!

Brit in NY :headbang:

Did you detect before you moved to the US?

LOL no I was way to young to have known how cool this is. I find it very interesting to live in a place that played a big part in this countries fight for what it is today. I love living here and think the way things turned out is just fine. HH L8R

This button is also 1812 and found close to cap plate.
