Posted on today's finds last week but haven't id'ed it yet. Guessing war of 1812 because of two Artillery buttons we found close this site, but haven't found one exactly like it on the web. Any info will, as always,be greatly appreciated!

My buddy cbxjon found this larger one at the same site. Thanks for looking!

Is this it?

Could be a cuff or a waistcoat button.

Your early-1800s US Artillery button's specific time-period depends on whether it says "REG'T" or "CORPS" below the cannon. Reg't is 1802-1808. Corps is 1814-1821.

Since you did not mention a backmark, I assume it doesn't have any markings on its back. Is that correct?

Thanks DC and Cannonball Guy. No back mark and can't really make out what's underneath the cannon. if I had to guess it looks like I can see an "o" but can't say for sure. Thanks and I hope my cannon ball will be done with electrolysis today and will send you dimensions and pics if so.

Electrolysis will ruin that button, there are far better safer ways, than going down that route.

Thanks SS. I've learned my lesson about ruining buttons!! The electrolysis I was referring to is a cannonball I discussed with cannonballguy previously. Im afraid to do any more cleaning on that button I sure would hate to ruin one of the very few military but I have! Thanks
