A few weeks ago i went a coin store near my house and bought some random silver so i had 1 of every thing. I saw that they had probably 100 war nickels and they were selling them for 50 cents each. If I buy the nickels where could i sell them to make a little turn around because i don't have too much money over the $500 needed for sorting half dollars.

50¢ each is a bargain! At Friday's close they're valued at 94¢ and even a stingy coin shop would give you 80¢ each at that price. I say buy 'em! Silver's in an upward trend that will make it a nice deal. Are there any other shops around you could sell them to? Each roll could net you a profit of $12.

Yes, there are a few other stores in town but there may be a problem. The big 2 stores have both been in business fro more then 30 years and they are good friends. I have a feeling if i bought them all at one store the friend at the other store would know whats up. When i got them at 50 cents each tho it was just about closing (they may have been trying to get me out of there) and i only bought 3. Hopefully i can get my mom or my dad to drive to that part of town and hopefully buy them up. Also i am pretty sure that i can get Canadian coinage at 80% face, i know that's a good deal but where could i turn them in?

Unfortunately war nickels do not bring a premium, the alloy is weird, and when refining them the alloy causes problems, Also, with the current ban on melting pennies and nickels war nickels are currently included in that category, So people who have them are stuck with them, and most people dont go out of there way to buy them. Its not worth the risk to refine them, and its not an alloy that is usable for anything but what they are.
most refiners wont touch a silver alloy under 90% if they can help it. Again, it has to do with the processing, Alloys of lesser amounts end up costing more to refine, and process.
In order to make any money off them you would need tens of thousands at that price to make it worth while. And most basic refiners charge at least $75 to do silver in any amount.
Unless you can clear at least $100 to $300 profit after fees/ shipping etc. Or find people willing to buy them, or if your keeping them for yourself.
never buy anything you cant turn the next day for a profit is how I operate :) I would pass

you could buy them and sell them on ebay. looks like they're going for 25-30 bucks a roll. little bit more if you have multiple rolls. not a great profit, but it's something.
