Any of you war buffs ever seen one of these before? I found it at an existing home site built in the 1830s. It is a little bigger than a quarter, and little smaller than a large cent in diameter. (sorry no calipers) The reverse has broken off pin tabs where I'm guessing the spring clasp thingys would have been for fastening. It is about the same thickness as a quarter also. I'm not sure of the material either the round base might be lead/pewter? and the drum sticks? have some rust/corrosion. This seems right for Iron/steel but I would think they would be completely trashed out if they were iron/steel. I've had this thing for 2 years and have always wondered just what it is. My best guess and hope is that it is a war relic!

Thanks for the help! Bill

U.S. Coastal Artillery collar disc, the threaded shank on the back appears to be broken, and probably why it was lost. I don't know the era on this, but I imagine some research on the web will turn up something. Unusual find, congratulations!

Thank you Slingshot, you nailed it! I believe this issue was a Type II, pre WWII. I found some very good information on the web.
Thanks again, Bill
