want to see an awesome collection ?

Does anyone think someone will actually pay that amount for a collection? I mean it would be awesome if they would, but I just have a hard time seeing anyone do that.

I wouldnt know. Usually I believe collections of that size are split up or sold in private. That is by far the biggest I have saw for sale as a whole on a public auction site!

Good luck on that price, I clearly see some fakes in there...

At first I thought the price was steep but, after seeing the two flint T-birds I realize the price is super fair! I just wish I had that kinda cash!

I'll never understand why people decide to put big obvious repros in their display frames, Compromises the whole deal imo. There are some really nice pieces in there too. The frame of Hardaways is killer. I will give him props on his mancave, that's a very sweet room.

Hate to see a nice man cave go down like that. Wonder why he is selling?

Out of curiousity, as an individual knowing absolutely nothing about arrowheads, which one (s) are the obvious reproductions?

As already pointed out 99% of the time those eccentrics or effigies are modern repros. In the fourth pic of the large vertical frame, from here the two large centerpieces look like grey ghosts. The spuds or mace pieces are questionable too. This makes me think most or all of his non local stuff is questionable. Just my opinion, not trying to be a stickler or anything, but the seller is claiming it's all authentic. Maybe he doesn't know the difference between an ancient and a modern artifact? At that price I think he's missing 3 or 4 frames of authentic, high grade paleo points.

Actually, if you look at the email address given in the description, I believe it's a woman who is selling this collection. The email is [email protected], so I would guess it's either a wife or daughter of someone who has passed away and they are now trying to sell the collection. I agree though that there a lot of questionable pieces in those trays and that really makes me leery of a lot of the pieces that I see. They will never get that price out of it unless they find a fool who has more money than sense.

SRV - Steve, the people are out there with the condition you are speaking of. I would guess that in order to make that collection a good deal there would have to be twice that amount of good honest pieces. Just my opinion. Scott

Many obvious fakes in the collection, plus lots of commom flint in many of those frames. No way will it bring that kind of money unless they find someone that knows less about artifacts than the sellers do and has deep pockets. There does look to be several decent pieces in the collection but nothing that really stands out. If you would like to see a collection of artifacts that will knock your eyes out and is supposed to be valued at over a million bucks check out this picture of part of Floyd Ritters collection in Collinsville Illinois. He has the steatite elbow pipe I found in 1981 in this picture.... it is in the glass case on the right, 2nd shelf from the top on the right...it is just left of the wooden item showing through the back of the case that looks like a tripod. google FLOYD RITTER and enjoy the picture.

Thanks for posting the link to the Ritter collection for me. The artifacts shown in the picture is a small portion of his collection.
Floyd collects artifacts, guns, paintings, knives, and he even has a shrunken head from borneo on display! His collection is displayed in his basement and can easily put many museum collections to shame. The pipe I found in 1981 is in this picture as I mentioned before. Floyd always tried to buy it from me at the relic shows I used to attend with my collection but I wasn't ready to part with it. Several years later another collector caught me at a weak moment and the pipe was sold for 1600.00. Last I heard Floyd traded diamonds for the pipe. The pipe is pictured in the January 1984 Central States Archaeological Journal.
