Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

OK try this again with less photos, will have to add another post...Hubbie thinks I'm nuts (he may be right, after all I am a woman ;D) I see one thing on these coins and he don't see anything, personally I think hes doing that to: shall I say get my goat! So I said OK I will post these on the MD'ing web site and the ones who know will be able to solve my dilemma..So the first pic is of my bulk, half dug have pillaged!ha ha...the rest are of a few coins that are some what good and some really bad! I'm not asking for grading or anything like that...I just want to say I told you so..(Disclaimer: even if I have to even eat a little crow..ha ha!)...So if y'all would me so kind as to let me know what you can see via- my really bad photos, I would be ever so greatfull.

Thanks again

2ND post with more pics on the way!

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

The 1997 penny has the typical problem of zinc pennies that have been buried. The zinc gets exposed when some of the thin copper layer has been compromised, and the zinc deteriates rapidly and the coin gets "eaten up" and corrodes away. That is what is what caused the holes.

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

I've picked up lots of clad that's corroded like that...

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

Yeah but do you see any other ..lets say letters??shadowed or pressed in by any chance? Look really close to that rust big rust spot on the one penny..
OKOK! So I may need glass's, here's what i seen in these two pennies(one thing I did not notice untill just now) a shadow behind the D..will have to clean it more to make sure..a letter A or maybe V stamped in the rim just above the year, and a shadow letter just above the first 9 in 1999.An when I look via the magnifier I can see way more letters and such..but it seem "you know who can't" HAHA!
The shinny one looks like he is out of proportion in the shoulder area, and has tons of odd things on him under a magnifier..oh and the big rust spot I think is a stamped DD, I can see the echo of the other D's behind that one..But then again....ya just never...AHHH! come on please don't make me eat crow! plllleeeeaaaassseeeee! HAHA! J/K...
then the 196?, 7 i think...the seven was dropped down and makes the 6 look fractured or like a G..on the back I have the little UFO thing above the ENT in cent..
And no I'm not on drugs and I have not been drinking...(yet)..HAHA..

Can you give me a hint? Sorry, nothing stands out to me. If you tell me what you see maybe I can confirm If your husband is correct in giving you a hard time ;)

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

??? I think your hubby has you on this one... :)

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

Sooo..now that I have all this and have yet read about how to clean it.... but was told by Hubie to use Ketchup on my copper bottom pans and it worked..and it works on pennies...but does it harm them more than help?

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found

from what I can see there is nothing of any great value so cleaning them won't hurt the value.

what are you going to do with them? Keep them? turn them in for cash? or???

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

Well right now just cleaning and looking at them, not real sure what I will do with them. Most likely keep the older ones and any that are miss prints and such...the rest will go to the kid. Last night I used lemon juice on them and it worked way better, however the red pennies did not do so well in it. So learning as I go...but wow what ALOT of pennies to look at......

I can tell you that Vancouver is much better than the "armpit"

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

I see crusty pennies!

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

I think it is time for your husband to put your bottle away and tuck you into bed ;)

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

For giggles and grins, take a very small drill bit, say 1/64th and drill a hole through the copper wash into the zinc. Then drop the penny in a glass of vinegar. Leave it there until the bubbles stop coming out of the hole. The vinegar will dissolve all of the zinc, leaving a hollow penny.

ROFL! I'm so going to do that.
Its hard to tell some times what is truly their and what is not on these coins. I have decided cleaning them first then looking is a way better Idea. I am going to look into getting a Microscope to be able to better view some of the things I see. Only thing is while reading one of the coin magazines at the library I read where one of the Items was magnified 500X that's going a little far I would think, and I feel if you have to magnify it that much then it is not worth making it a true error coin. But that is just my oppion and we all know about those! ;D

Yea...Tacoma is more like the armpit here!

Disclaimer: this is not meant to offend or upset anyone here living or who has lived in or around the Tacoma aroma.

Re: Want to say " I told you so" please tell what you see on these coins I found...

Hey! there will be no taking the bottle away! ;D as for Tacoma, yep lived there when dad was still in the Army..it's only gotten worse. BUT way more area to cover..haha!
Sorry have been away so long, MD'ing has lead me on a new hunt "COINS" and how sane am I..or is that do I need glass's..HAHA!
Going to start a new post on my recent Coin, see if you guys can see the "EYE".....wont add the tons of other coins, nothing real fancy yet. All though the guy at the store had some one use 2 what I think y'all call standing liberty dollars(maybe wrong on name, looks like the silver eagel but smaller and older) can not remember year. Do remember one mint marked S, and one Silver dollar. The Silver Eagel, personaly I think it was stolen and then used at his store, is way brad new and shiny to have been used to buy smokes. PPFFFTTT!

Have a great day!
