Want to come treasure hunting with me, for real!!

OK..here's the deal short and sweet for this post.

I've ALWAYS wanted to go treasure hunting since I was young. I'm now 36 and my wife and I are expecting our first little one in 9 weeks!! So this is going to be my last chance to get away for an adventure for a good long time.
Here's my proposal....

We use my 36 ft. self contained RV plus I have about $1000.00 cash for up to a 10 day "treasure hunting vacation." I have no idea where to go or even what to do......lol

Looking for someone with a "REAL" idea, a "REAL" map or at least a "REAL" good story teller to come along on my "treasure hunting vacation." Maybe you have an idea but no means to get you there......Maybe you have everthing but don't want to go alone.......There are countless situations. I just know I want to go and don't want to go alone. Begged my wife.....and since I'm posting this...enough on that subject. :)

So that's it....Ideally I'd like to leave between Aug. 30 and Sept. 3rd. I live in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area but wouldn't be against driving somewhere to pick someone up.
Details can be worked out via the telephone.

Please, serious replies only to [email protected]

Welcome to T-net kryan...

You might want to do some kind of checking on anyone wanting to go with you... Personal references, criminal background, drug screen... LMAO... OK, maybe that's a little too much, but you seriously should use caution when offering to go cross country with a total stranger, especially with a young'un on the way...

I wish you'd have posted this a couple of weeks ago, I would've taken you up on it. I start a new job on Monday and don't have the free time to go now, and I'm right here in Garland... You should consider going to Colorado or California or somewhere to go prospecting for gold. It would likely be more profitable than a wild goose chase for a treasure legend.

Slow down bud!!! These things take time. But you did come to the right spot!
How far you want to travel? We got guy's and Gal's all over the US. Some of them might even help you out.
Dano.

SORRY, DID I MENTION ANOTHER STATE ? ;D

i do know Where their At ;) :D

Garland.....where was I 2 weeks ago? ?Working! ?I don't want to say "moneys not an issue" but I did save for a vacation and I'm ready to take it!
How far do I want to travel.....well seeing that I would like to keep it to under 10 days, I don't want to drive to Maine. ?South Texas, Nevada, Cali, maybe Mexico if someone really knew what they were doing. ?Prospecting for gold sounds fun but so does searching for something that could turn out to be a wild goose chase.

I have no expectations except to have a good time. ?Being in advertising for the past 10 yeas, I "think" I'm a good judge of character. ?So going with a total stranger wouldn't be the worse thing in the world. ?

Thank you for the words of safety and advice!

kryan2:
Early this month,
I had a guy show up, he wanted to go along with me...
He was a "Total Washout"! ::)
He spent a week helping me pack up and do some work on my Jeep! (almost thru) !
I learned, during that week...
He had a 100% Negative Attitude! !
:P There' was NO Way !
That I would want him to go along!
I FIRED HIM! :-\
Told him he would be better off, at home !
So! Watch your step !
There is no way that you would want to have someone like him, as a partner...
There are others out of his kind out there! :o
AND!
You certainly, don't want to find out when it's TOO LATE!

Their were a bunch of civil war training sites near you. Do a Google search on them. Get an MD [ metal detector] and find out why this is so interesting.
Dano.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm currently in contact with a member here trying to put something together.

I'm sure it will work out for us. Since there's no rush, no expectations and no drama we should have no problems.

Once again, thanks.

Kevin, I'm in the same boat your in, ain't got nobody to go with and definitely don't want somebody that is a jerk or is untrustworthy, I'm in Central California, along the Coast, but I Prospect the California-Nevada Deserts and in the past have done pretty well, but have always gone by myself, being a lone dog........I have been prospectin' for over 30 years and have found more than most, while remaining mostly unheard of...I backpack into alot of these areas, so I am physically fit for the rigors of the outdoors and am savy on all History, Languages, Geology etc...Recently, about 7 months ago, I ran into a very unusual formation that my Fisher Gold Bug Detector rang out on, but it wasn't the usual. As I proceeded checking it out and ground balancing the detector, I noticed the heavy concentration of the "IRON" exposed....Breaking off some samples and throwing them in my pack, I proceeded on until I reached base camp. There, I proceeded to break-up the samples to pan them to see if any color could be found. While doing so, a little beautiful "green crystal" fell out of the rock. And even smaller ones were noticed attached. Later, a couple of days later, I was in Orange County (Calif), in the City of Orange and showed this crystal to a Premier Goldsmith & Gemologist and upon his inspection he declared that it was a "crystal of EMERALD". Since that time I have taken it for analyzes to 4 other Jewelry experts and they all came to the same conclusions. I have had the rock Assay'd by reputable Assayers and it confirms the finding...High Aluminum, Iron and Vanadium Content and traces of Berilium....Needles to say, I have a in-exhaustable amount of research about this.......But the find is so far in the backcountry and although I've made a trip there again, it's really tough on me to go by myself.....So, like you, I too am looking for a partner, if I can find a good one......Too bad your way out in Texas.....Darrell

Darrell:
Are You Still Out There?
We kind of dropped our correspondence!
I'm still here in Texas, But!
I'm getting ready to be heading out shortly!
Several things and reasons have made me about two months late.
But!
I am going!
I'll be out for 10+ months on this .....
One of the reasons that I am working so long.
Is to made sure the Jeep is not going to have any problems!
It needs to be in excellent shape!

kryan2: you have been given great advise from people here. So rather than repeating it,here is what I suggest.

Find out if there is any metal detecting or treasure hunting clubs in your area. Some of them have newsletters or websites.

You would be better off getting to know local people in your area. There is plenty of treasure within a few hours drive from you. Resarch areas and find a local bud and go out with him on weekends.

If you want adventure with a real treasure hunter, try contacting cptbil. I would join him in a heartbeat if I was not tied up for another few months on projects and a messy divorce.

I have no problem finding partners on TN. But most of my projects are planned months to years ahead of time. This allows me to get to know a person before I go out with them. We always meet before the project and have communications for months before a project.

Heed the warnings and remember your new child is the true treasure here.

There are many kinds of treasure hunting, but for some reason most treasure seems to be in remote dangerous locations. For example here in Kentucky we have poisonous snakes, moonshiners, Marijuana cultivators and mobile meth labs just to name a few. I allways carry a sidearm in the hills with me. It is better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

I am not trying to discourage you. Just with traveling with a wife and a child be carefull. Good luck
