Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I have recently started using my old Whites 6000 bought used in 98 and never really did much with it. Last week I pulled it out and hit the trails in Waltham, nothing exciting just some clad change and good exercise. I hit on a trail and came on a stone wall that curved with an extensive beer can patch. Two very large trees opposite each other the rest being 3" to 8" trunk scrub.

The detector was blowing up targets everywhere. The beer garden should have tipped me off. I cleared off a 10'x10' area and raked the leaves out commenced to detecting. Dug down and started to collect pull tabs. So many that I attacked it more like a dig 4 inches down 2 ft x 5 ft.

I got tired of cleaning pull tabs and started to explore the brush. At the end of the day I stumbled on the cellar hole. I'll be checking that next time I go out. Anyone like to head out just give a shout.

Went back today and gave the cellar hole a quick look, very brushy, and no place to swing the detector. Had taken my Ex with me and she got sick so we had to leave . Todays finds; Rust, pull tabs, and about 1/2 pound of corroded copper flashing. Maybe tomorrow will be better. If you want to check it out just contact me here.

Back there again today more tabs, some clad, broken spoon, and a chunk of melted copper? My first gun looks like a 25 cal, but it's only the upper receiver (Could be a toy ) very rusted. IMG_20141008_163853.jpg

Just got a new AT Pro and will be out checking this area again. Wish it had come last friday instead of today after 5 pm, next 4 days rain forecasted. It's waterproof but I'm not, oh well.

Godd**m weathermen hasn't rained at all today. Took the AT Pro out and started to learn my new machine. Never did detect my backyard till today pulled 3 and change in clad, a old jacknife, heating valve, Salem Willows token, and some trash. This machine is great Thanks Bart At Big Boys.

Rick, I was just going to ask where you got your ATP...

Guess who just ordered one from Bart for his birthday? [emoji13] Ordered it today and should be here middle of next week WHAAHOOO

Good luck with the new machine and HH!

Congrats on your birthday and purchase. If you ever come up to Waltham give a shout out. Where are you on the south shore? I get down to Plymouth every once in awhile.

Newton tot lot my first Dollar with the AT PRO was a sacajawea, oh well got bunch of clad, and a silver earing. Taking my waders tomorrow and hitting a lake.

Went to mystic lake and tried out water hunting. Works great but some of y'all been there before me. Clad, bottle caps, tabs, and a boy scout pin. Left there and hit a tot lot in belmont cleaned up 2.89 in clad and one wheatie. Leaving the Waders in the trunk.

I see your a newer member here. Just curious, how do you search for new spots? I have been driving by old fields and houses for over a year - drooling - I have a Bounty Hunter that my wife got as a gift because she saw me sparking a real interest in the hobby. I refused to knock on doors or search fields with it because it is a really cruddy machine, sounds rude but it was a very nice gift and I have used the machine alot, now its time to upgrade :headbang:

After joining this forum I learned about Historic Map Works ,I'm not sure if you have used it before - but this website allows you to get into an archive of old maps that you type in, and you can overlay them onto the current google maps, then use a scroll bar on the right to change the opacity of the old map so you can see whats there now, and what used to be there. this is an awesome resource that ive been using.

HH

I'm mostly looking in public lands, trails mostly. I have drove by some places and have asked if I could detect their yards, one for two there. I know about historic map works but haven't tried using the overlays.

Yesterday I detected an old farm in Waltham the field was totally overgrown, brush 4 and 5 feet high, at the back of the house nails everywhere. I may try the front today. Total 1.86 all clad but 2 wheaties.

My mother wanted a detector back in the 80's and dad bought her a Radio Shack kids toy. She never found anything. I've seen better things said of the BH but have no experience with one. I think you'll like the pro.

Today was out and about went one town over and detected the lake shore, 2.80 in clad, one wheatie, and a canadian penny. In the water tomorrow. 39.85 in clad so far this month. 2 Days see if I can break 45.00 in clad for Oct.

Sweet!

I've been looking on craigslist under lost+found, I may go hunt for a ring one of these days

Short day today, I really need a long handle scoop tried Crystal lake in Newton. With all the clad I got there, I think I'm the only one swinging there this year.

Start swinging that coil Beep. My doctor loves the exercise I get and my blood sugar levels are spot on now. I would love to find another ring, Clad is just for keeping score. 40.88 with one more day to go.

Wow that's a lot of diggin! Thats great news about your health! This hobby is awesome on so many different levels...

Tomorrow is the day ill be able to swing it [emoji50]

41.23 total clad for month of october. Wanted to start nov off but the weather is off, so I'll probably just hang and research today.

Went to stony brook today looking for Snake rock or devil's den in waltham didn't find it. Got some clad 15 cents, a bunch of old shotgun shells, a plow blade, a religious medal silver clad, a ring that was trashed by something think it's silver. I'll post a pic later.

Went to Norumbega in Newton today hit around and old massive tree, 75 cents in clad 25 pennies, 4 dimes, 2 nickels. Got tired of up and down on pennies and since I'm up on the scratch tickets 160.00 today I cut it short. Now if I could hit Mega millions tonight, I shudder to think.
