Hello All,

I'm considering going in on some walkie talkies with the whole Treasure Crew here, and I have a question: Has anyone experienced interference with their detectors as a result of the walkie talkies?

If so, is this confined to a specific brand of walkie talkie? Or a specific brand of detector? If we order online, we have many more options without having to bring an Ace 250, a Fisher 1266-X, a Tesoro Silver uMax, and a Whites XLT into the store to check them out in person first. :-\

Considering that we spread out so far when we are trying to locate a site, this purchase seems like a sound investment.

Please let me know your thoughts,

Haven't used walkie talkies per-say...but I have Nextel cellular service and anytime my wife calls me with the walkie talkie feature, the detector does make some wierd sounds. It can drive you crazy if you are using headphones.

jus letting you know my experience.

I can tell you that a cell phone and a Vibra-probe 560 will drive a Fisher F-75 nuts- Don't know about a Walkie talkie but I would bet it would be the same

I've have a pair Motorola's and a pair of Midlands.

I have only tried using the Midlands while detecting due to the fact that they came with the required earpiece and microphone setup necessary to utilize the built in VOX feature. The VOX feature, if your not familiar, is basically the ability to utilize voice activated transmissions. This is were your able to talk and transmitt without the need to press any buttons.

I found the Midlands VOX feature to work great, but the transmission drove my friends ACE 250 nuts everytime time. It didn't bother my GTI 1500 at all. He couldn't take it anymore and so we stopped using them.

I bought these for the girls and I and they work really well.....I have been up to two miles from camp and can communicate with them .I havent experienced any trouble with interference with the detector. No static...real clear connections ....dont even hear the "skkkhhhhhhh" when someone speaks.

Of course I was carrying mine in the backpack and had hiked into an old Indian camp this summer......Cheyenne was back at camp when she decided to be funny and talked in a real low raspy voice.....she said " What are you doing?" and I just about jumped out of my skin, before I realzed she was on the walkie talkie ....I looked like one of those bunnies that you catch in your headlights at night...straight up in the air five feet and 360 degree turn and jump....LOL
