Very nice point. I went today but I guess it was a pointless day. :happysmiley:

that sure is nice a pretty little arrow point
that material looks like it was hard to work to me

I have a few made out of the same material and it sure does seem like it would be difficult to work.

Good find. It is rare to see little ones of of quartz. That took some skill for sure. I like it.

Nice! Quartz was the preferred material for the people who made those little points. The archys refer to a quartz pebble industry; they just picked up a quartz pebble and made a point. Sometimes you can still see the original outer skin, or cortex, of the pebble remaining at the base of the stem. That one has been resharpened, nice little point.

Charl is right on..... I think that looks like a Savannah river after at least one resharpening. Nice find.

I have some North Carolina examples just like that.

Great info, thanks. I ID's it using the New England Typology book you recommended. It's a great reference. Many of the pictures were taken from an excavation site that is literally in walking distance from my house which is pretty cool. Still waiting for the other book to show up.

Quick question. How can one tell that it's been resharpened?

I would have to disagree with the assessment on this piece. I believe this to be a exhausted Fox Creek Blade. Exhausted or not it is still very nice. I'll post a couple of mine for reference................Hope this helps.......................GTP(Chris)001 (1024x768).jpg008 (640x480).jpg003 (800x600).jpg

I'm a Florida boy.. I'm probably wrong.
