Waders or rain boots?

Greetings!

When I hunt the beach, I usually wear simple rain boots. I have no inclination to get in the water...it just seems like too much work, but I do hunt the wet sand along the water line. Lately, maybe its just when I hunt, but I have been hit by sneaker waves that drench me. Its gotten to the point where I am seriously considering waders. They seem like a pain in the ass to me...putting them on and moving around, but at least I won't have to worry about driving home soaked to the bone. So I guess what the question is, what do you wear when you hunt the beach? Any recommendations on waders? Thanks for your insight!

Safest thing is to just wear diving boots or even just water shoes especially if you are talking about ocean beaches. Waders are probably safe for still water.

Since you're just avoiding wave splash, try some waist high
lightweight waders. Amazon has a load of them listed.

Ive been detecting since age 12 1975
first 20 yrs I hunted 90% land spots - 10% water (mostly fresh)
now iI hunt 90% water (mostly salt) and 10% land
can tell you Ive gotten 10 times more gold in water and Ive gotten over 1000 pieces of gold over the yrs
So its worth the work - I got 72 gold rings in 2012 all in water - one of my better yrs

In warmer weather I would say a good pair of dive boots with a thick sole
when its warm enough for shorts - get a pair of 7mm or 5mm

If I were in your rain boots, I would be wearing shorts. When I get back to the car, towel off and put my sneakers on. Dry ride home...

I wear this when hunting even beach parking lots.

Cant be too careful these days... got an instant covid mask an everything... alos protects me from seagull attack.

As mentioned, waders can be dangerous if they get flooded by a rogue wave. If you insist on wearing them, carry a good sharp dive knife strapped to your leg just incase you need to slice those waders to save yourself from drowning. Your water is probably colder than ours down here (not that ours is warm this time of year by any stretch of the imagination!), but, I usually just wear semi-hard soled Mares dive booties and jeans when wet sand hunting. If I plan on getting into the surf this time of year, I just bite the bullet and put on the wet suit.
